Temple House is one of 3 private guest cottages nestled on the grounds of our healing sanctuary, a thoughtfully therapeutic wildflower, perennial, and herb garden. You'll find many interesting plants, and many colorful and shady areas for rest and reflection, plus ping pong, a hammock, a hot tub (small fee), a barbque, and a lawn for afternoon yoga or watching the stars.

Your stay includes off-street parking, an easy walk everywhere (plus we have bikes), and complete pleasure access to our unique and colorful nearly half acre therapeutic Chakra Garden. We use only fragrance-free environmentally friendly cleaning products.

A recent guest commented: "From the outside, Temple House seems not so big a place, just a simple cottage. But, when you’re inside it seems huge, like you have 4 separate rooms and tons of free space. What a wonderful mystery!"

Formerly our vintage property's carriage building (the main house was built in 1884), Temple House building was erected in 1907 with dirt floors. That’s pretty much how we found it when we purchased the property in 2010. Doing the work ourselves, the building is now a simple, well insulated and sound-proofed living space we call Temple House.

Here’s a description of the interior lay-out:

Open the front door to a high ceiling room, you'll face a sofa and chairs in a curtained enclave. The sofa is actually a comfy, sheepskin topped high-quality futon sofabed from Ikea that easily is a couch or a bed. The curtains draw across for a sense of privacy when the space is used as a sleeping area.

To the right of the entrance is a cute 2-person dropleaf breakfast table with a garden view. We also provide folding TV-type tables if you need extra surface space when dining or using your laptop at home.

Through the main room is a sliding door that leads into the bedroom area. The comfortable bed can be walked all the way around, was recently purchased (2016), and is of top quality. The sleeping area is separated by screening from the kitchenette and bathroom door. You walk past the foot of the bed to get to the kitchenette and bathroom.

You can prepare a full meal in the kitchenette, where you’ll find a fridge/freezer, convection oven, micro, toaster, electric kettle & frying pan, 4 each dishes, cups, etc. We’ll add a hot plate, rice cooker, and/or blender upon request. Breakfast is not included, but we provide Peets Coffee, cream & sugar, organic cocoa, and a variety of teas for your morning refreshment. Plus a few healthy snacks from Trader Joe's.

The small bathroom is to the left of the kitchenette. There’s a fiberglass corner shower and a cute corner sink. Expect lots of thick fresh cotton towels, organic soap, shampoo and conditioner, plus a hairdryer and first aid kit.

Guests who stay in Temple House enjoy a quiet, spacious, comfortable, soft-surface environment. The walls are adorned with beautiful fabrics and interesting handicrafts. The property is downtown and near a street corner. Like all homes downtown, there is some traffic noise, but guests consistently report the environment inside and out as "peaceful," "restful," and "quiet." The walk to the plaza is less than 1/2 mile south (10 minutes) by Google Maps, with Angus Bowmer Theater (Shakespeare Festival) 400 feet further.

We, and our cottages, are charming, functional, clean, friendly, warm, private, quiet, fun, and casual but with good attention to detail. We, and our cottages, are not fancy or ultra-modern or formal. But you’ll find life in our environment very pleasant, comfortable, and peaceful.

Please be aware that we love dogs, but cannot accept your canine companion, or any animals, as a guest.
